Ecuadorian Rose Exports Flourish for Mother’s Day 2025
Quito, Ecuador – May 12, 2025 – This year’s Mother’s Day season reaffirmed Ecuador’s dominance in the global floral market, breaking export records and highlighting the powerful symbolism of the rose in honoring motherhood. In just two weeks leading up to May 12, Ecuador exported over 22,000 tons of flowers—representing a 7% increase from 2024 and generating more than USD 95 million in revenue for the country.
The primary destinations for Ecuadorian flowers this season were the United States, Europe, and Asia, with major logistical operations mobilized to ensure timely delivery of millions of bouquets. The most requested stems? Ecuadorian roses—renowned for their large head size, vibrant color, and exceptional vase life.
Thanks to its geographic and climatic conditions, Ecuador produces roses with notably longer stems—often reaching up to 1.2 meters—thicker calyxes, and larger heads averaging 5 to 6 centimeters in diameter. These physical characteristics result in longer vase life and enhanced color vibrancy.
During this Mother’s Day season, pink and white varieties were once again the top sellers—selected not only for their symbolism of tenderness and love but for their strong market demand and reliable performance in bouquet design and logistics
This year’s Mother’s Day campaign revealed the most in-demand rose varieties around the world. For fresh cut roses, the top 10 best sellers were:

“Ecuador is not just exporting flowers,” stated a report from the National Association of Flower Producers. “We are exporting emotion, beauty, and resilience.”
Mother’s Day continues to be the most emotionally charged holiday in the flower industry, and 2025 was no exception. The surge in global demand underscores not only the quality of Ecuadorian floriculture, but the deep emotional connections roses create across cultures.
At Naranjo Roses, we are proud to represent Ecuador on the global stage. As the world blooms for mothers, we remain committed to cultivating excellence, honoring women, and delivering beauty that inspires.
